What this template does

The hard part of a trends newsletter is not the writing; it is reading everything first. This template does the reading. On a schedule you set, Sprites researches your industry across news, company announcements, regulatory updates, analyst commentary, Reddit and the trade press, deduplicates the coverage, and ranks the developments by relevance to the audience you described. It then drafts the issue: a short lead, three to five items with what happened, why it matters and a source link, and a closing take that is yours, not a summary.

Your point of view is the product. You give Sprites a voice guide and a stance (what you believe about the market, what you sell, what you will not say), and every item is framed through it. Positions are attributed, claims are sourced and the numbers come from the cited pages, so the issue reads as commentary you can stand behind rather than a feed.

Sprites writes the newsletter; it does not send it. The draft arrives in your workspace as formatted text ready to paste into your email tool, with subject line options and a plain-text version. Put it on a weekly Autopilot and the research and draft are waiting before you start the day.

Inputs and outputs

What you provide

  • Your industry, the audience and what they care about (roles, decisions they make, what bores them)
  • Your voice and stance: a style guide, past issues, or a few sentences on what you believe
  • Sources to prioritize or exclude, and competitors to mention or avoid
  • Cadence and length: weekly or monthly, three items or ten

What you get

  • A full issue draft: lead, ranked items with context, a why-it-matters line and a source link for each, and a closing take
  • Three subject line options and a preview text
  • A plain-text version and a formatted version ready for your email platform
  • A research appendix: everything considered, including what was cut and why
  • Optional: a matching LinkedIn post and a blog version of the issue

How it runs

  1. Step 1

    Research the period

Sprites searches news, announcements, filings, analyst notes, Reddit and trade press for the period since the last issue, opens the sources and extracts the facts and figures.

  2. Step 2

    Rank and deduplicate

Coverage of the same event is merged. Items are ranked by relevance to your audience and stance, and anything already covered in a previous issue is dropped unless it moved.

  3. Step 3

    Draft in your voice

Each item is written with what happened, why your readers should care and what you think, with the source cited. The lead and close are written last so they reflect the whole issue.

  4. Step 4

    Check the claims

Numbers and quotes are checked against the cited pages, positions are attributed, and anything Sprites could not verify is flagged for you rather than smoothed over.

  5. Step 5

    Hand off

The issue, subject lines and appendix land in your workspace. Edit in the thread, then paste into your email tool. On Autopilot the draft is ready on your schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the newsletter content come from?

+

From live research each run: news, company announcements, regulatory and filing updates, analyst commentary, trade press and Reddit, opened and read by Sprites. Every item cites the page it came from, and you can whitelist or exclude sources.

Does Sprites send the newsletter?

+

No. Sprites writes it; you send it from your email platform. The draft arrives formatted and as plain text, with subject line options, so pasting it into your tool takes a minute.

Can I tailor it to a narrow niche?

+

Yes. The narrower the audience description, the better the ranking of items. Give Sprites the roles your readers hold and the decisions they make, and it filters out the general news they already saw.

Are the statistics and quotes accurate?

+

They are taken from the cited sources and checked against them before the draft is finished. Anything Sprites could not verify is flagged in the draft so you can decide whether to keep it, and the appendix lists everything considered.

Can I run this from Claude or ChatGPT?

+

Yes. Sprites has an official MCP server, so you can ask Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or any MCP-compatible assistant for this week's issue and get the same researched draft from your Sprites workspace.
