Profound runs sales-led ads in a category where a lot of the tools let you sign up and start. Its biggest Meta message is "Book a Free AEO Audit Call for Your Company". 91 ads. It sells a meeting, not a trial.
Ramp's October 2026 AI category data has Profound as the most-purchased AEO vendor, at 53% of buyers in the category. So the ads are worth reading. They are not the ads of a company chasing signups.
Meta is the newer channel. Profound's whole Meta history starts on 11 August 2026: 232 ads since, 173 of them in August alone, and 119 of them launched in a single test week, all off by 18 August. LinkedIn is bigger, at 361 ads. Google has 207.

Meta: a meeting, a case study, then research
232 ads, a test week, then the winners
Every one of the 232 Meta ads launched after 11 August 2026. That is the whole account. 173 went live in August and the biggest single day, 16 August, had 39 launches. Then 45 in September and 14 so far in October.
Behind the 232 sit 47 groups of near-identical creative, plus 33 ads that belong to no group. The same few creatives are cloned many times, up to 14 ad objects for one concept.
| Launch month | Meta ads launched |
|---|---|
| August 2026 (from the 11th) | 173 |
| September 2026 | 45 |
| October 2026 (to the 13th) | 14 |
Then the test week. 119 ads launched between 11 and 17 August. The median ran 1 day, and all 119 were off by 18 August. A single test week.
Then 7 quiet days with no launches. The 113 ads launched from 25 August have a median life of 32 days.
| Message | Test week (11-17 Aug) | From 25 Aug |
|---|---|---|
| MongoDB story | 3 | 35 |
| Audit call | 46 | 45 |
| Travel research | 13 | 0 |
| "Where does your brand rank" hook | 48 | 4 |
A one-week sprint picked the winners. The MongoDB story and the audit call came back. Travel research and the ranking hook did not.
What the 232 say
| Message (headline) | Meta ads | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Book a Free AEO Audit Call for Your Company | 91 | /contact-sales (76) |
| MongoDB Grew AI Visibility 50% | 38 | MongoDB case study |
| Find out where your brand ranks in AI search, plus 25 ads with the same copy and no headline | 52 | AEO report, Profound Index, or a form |
| See How Travelers Are Using AI | 13 | Travel research |
| Zero Click is coming to Sydney (Oct 27) and Singapore (Oct 29) | 8 | Event pages |
| Meet Aim, Built for Marketers | 7 | Aim product page |
| Meet the AI Marketer: Download the Blueprint | 6 | Blueprint download |
| Is AI Getting Your Brand Right? | 5 | FactCheck launch post |
| Everything else | 12 | Mixed |
I counted the first row twice. 91 ads, 39% of the account, with one headline. Of those, 76 point at the contact-sales page and 15 at the homepage or a Meta-hosted form. The body copy says it plainly: book a free audit call and "we'll show you exactly where you rank in AI search".
The creative inside is a product-style dark card. A line about where buyers are going, and a "Get a demo" link. Nothing in the ad asks anyone to try the product on their own.
One customer story, 38 times
The second-biggest message is a case study. "MongoDB Grew AI Visibility 50%." 38 ads. The body is a single sentence: MongoDB used Profound Agents to cut schema markup update time by almost 30%, with expert review kept in the loop. The same MongoDB headline runs in 6 Google video ads and shows up in the LinkedIn feed too.
MongoDB had 3 ads in the test week and 35 after it. It is the message the test week promoted.
Research as the free thing
When Profound does give something away, it is research. 13 ads promote a travel report: "Profound analyzed 4,352 real prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini". 12 link to the AEO report and 8 to the Profound Index. Another group quotes a shopping study of 200,000 prompts and a 50,000-response study that found 47% of response content was unsolicited.
The AEO report and Profound Index ads share one hook: "AI Search has a leaderboard. Your brand is on it. Most teams have no idea where they rank or who's beating them." 52 ads. Two endings: "See where you stand" and "Book a call to see where you stand".
Product launches, in small packs
Launches are small. Aim has 7 ads, the Blueprint download 6, FactCheck 5, and the two Zero Click event stops 8 between them. Aim is described as running "in the background to surface ranked AI Search opportunities and turn accepted ideas into projects". The Blueprint pitches "a marketing expert who knows your brand".
LinkedIn: 361 ads, and it is the bigger channel
LinkedIn is where the volume is. 361 ads, against 232 on Meta. And the mix is different.
| LinkedIn ad type | Ads |
|---|---|
| Single Image Ad | 138 |
| Message Ad | 136 |
| Video Ad | 69 |
| Document Ad | 18 |
Message ads are the sales machine
136 Message ads, sent from the Profound page. 123 carry copy, and that copy is 17 distinct messages. They open "Hey %FIRSTNAME%" and merge in the company name or job title. 86 of them ask for a call. 58 offer a free Profound Index report for your industry.
One reads: "Ask ChatGPT for the best tools in %COMPANYNAME%'s category. Does your name come up?" and ends with a quick call and a free Index report. Another names Estée Lauder, Walmart and Cursor and says a third of the Fortune 100 use the AI Marketer. A few are invites to the Zero Click events.
The 42 Message ads that show targeting list 18 countries, 17 of them European, plus Israel. On one of them the United Kingdom took 50% of impressions.
Founders and employees post the ads
185 of the 361 ads come from the Profound page. The other 176 are posted by 14 named people. Two of them, co-founders James Cadwallader (61 ads) and Dylan Babbs (46), account for 107. The other 12 posters, including newsletter founder Kyle Poyar with 9 ads, have 11 or fewer each.
All 176 are image or video posts: 110 image ads and 66 video ads. The Message and Document formats stay with the company page.
What the posters say
- Events: 33 ads mention Zero Click by Profound. London on 22 October, Sydney on 27 October, Singapore on 29 October.
- The raise: 40 ads mention the $180 million Series D at a $1.8 billion valuation.
- Customer proof: 15 ads cover MongoDB, Kiteworks, Optro or Snap.
- Product ships: "New ship from Profound" posts for Citation Coverage and the YouTube Citation Breakdown, and the news that the Profound MCP is an official Anthropic connector.
Document ads, and how little reach most have
18 Document ads all push the same Blueprint: "Picture a marketing expert who knows your brand, catches what's worth acting on, and gets the work done before you ask." They use 4 different cover images.
Of the 100 LinkedIn ads that show an impressions band, 68 sit under 1,000 impressions. A handful reach 50,000 or more. Those 100 dated ads started 64 in August, 27 in September and 9 in October.
Google: 207 ads, and the oldest is from June 2025
Google is the oldest channel on the account. The first Google ad ran in June 2025, more than a year before Meta begins. Of 207 ads, 116 are text, 65 are video and 26 are image. 98 were last shown in October 2026.
Meta and LinkedIn ask for a call. Google text ads use a different hook, one that sounds self-serve: 26 end "Analyze Your Brand Free" and go to the homepage. 18 open on "Try Profound Instead". Video repeats MongoDB (6 ads) and "Control Your AI Brand Story" (6). The ads cover 61 regions.
| Channel | Ads | Main ask |
|---|---|---|
| Meta | 232 | Book an audit call (91 ads) |
| 361 | Book a call, get an Index report (136 Message ads) | |
| 207 | Analyze your brand free (26 text ads) |
What actually makes this work
The ask matches the buyer. An AEO platform sold to a marketing team is not a purchase made in a Meta feed. So the ads sell the next step: a call, with a free report for your industry as the reason to take it.
Proof sits next to the ask. One customer story at 38 ads. Research with a number in the headline. A funding round, a partner logo or a citation table, from a founder's own LinkedIn profile.
And the shape of the Meta account says the test came first. 119 ads in one week, all gone by 18 August, then 113 ads on the messages that survived, living a median 32 days. The audit call and the MongoDB story are what the account kept.
Profound's pricing is its own story, and the pricing breakdown covers it. For a side-by-side with another AEO tool, see Profound vs Peec. The full list of live creative is on the Profound ads page.
