Emergent's affiliate terms ban bidding on the word "Emergent". 459 other ad accounts do it anyway.
That's the strangest thing in the account of a company that went from public launch to a $1.5B valuation in about a year. By its own numbers Emergent reached $50M ARR in 7 months and 12M+ apps built. You'd expect a Meta machine like Lovable's. Emergent runs 40 Meta ads. It runs 2,289 Google ads, and 735 of those come from accounts that aren't Emergent's.
Emergent's own budget goes somewhere else: Replit, Lovable, Base44, Bolt and Cursor. Its rivals' names. Here's the whole funnel - who buys the clicks, where they land, how partners get paid, and the celebrity contests that decide which country gets the budget next.

Who buys the word "Emergent"
Search "Emergent" and the ad you see may not be Emergent's.
| Emergent's own account | 459 other accounts | |
|---|---|---|
| Google ads pointing at emergent.sh | 1,554 | 735 |
| Search ads that lead with "Emergent" | 197 | 467 |
| Ads naming Replit, Lovable, Base44, Bolt or Cursor | 169 | 2 |
| Ads using get.emergent.sh | 0 | 167, from 152 accounts |
| Placements in Italy | 349 | 419 |
| Placements in France | 428 | 365 |
| Placements in India | 442 | 309 |
| Placements in the US | 467 | 85 |
449 of the 459 accounts buy search. Their headlines read like Emergent's own: "Emergent Official Site", "Emergent AI - Build Apps with AI", "Emergent - Build Apps with AI - Build Websites & Apps with AI". Most of them run one to three ads.
Emergent's affiliate terms, effective 8 August 2025 and updated 15 December 2025, are explicit. Bidding on Emergent brand keywords through Google Ads is prohibited, and any commission from it is voided. 92 of the accounts ran ads in October 2026.
The other tell is the subdomain. 167 of their ads send traffic through get.emergent.sh. Emergent's own account never uses it.
The split is thickest outside the US. In Italy the other accounts out-place Emergent. In the US they're 85 placements against 467.
Emergent buys its rivals' names instead
While partners hold the brand query, Emergent's own account goes after everyone else's.
| Rival named | Emergent ads | Example headline |
|---|---|---|
| Replit | 52 | Build what Replit can't |
| Base44 | 29 | Replit Alternative - Base44 Alternative |
| Lovable | 28 | Blackbox AI Alternative - Replit Alternative - Lovable Alternative |
| Bolt | 16 | Bolt New vs Emergent |
| Cursor | 16 | Better than Replit - #1 no-code app builder |
169 ads in all name a competitor. The rest of the search account sells the category: "Create an App in Minutes" on 173 variations, "Build Apps with AI in Minutes" on 126. "Free" is in 902 of 1,887 text variations.
So the division of labour is clean. Partners catch people who already typed Emergent. Emergent pays to catch people who typed somebody else.
How Emergent pays partners, creators and contestants
Emergent runs four programs. Only the affiliate one has a contract you can read.
| Program | Who | What they get | How it shows up in ads |
|---|---|---|---|
| Affiliate program | Anyone with an audience. The page claims 1,500+ active affiliates | 20% of a customer's gross revenue for the first 6 months, last click, 30-day cookie, $100 minimum, paid through Wise | ?via= codes on their own YouTube ads, and 459 accounts on brand search |
| Builder contests | Business owners in one country at a time | Cash prizes in local currency, plus months of the Standard plan | Search copy that sells the prize: "Rp 800 million in prizes" |
| Celebrity hosts | Raj Shamani, Fabrizio Romano, Kevin O'Leary, Simon Squibb | The face of a country edition | Fabrizio's 27 banners from a separate account |
| Creator partnerships | Creators on Meta and YouTube | A paid partnership. Rates are not published | Chris Cordero on Meta; utm_medium=influencer on YouTube |
Affiliates buy their own ads
The affiliate page promises "$1M+ paid out every month" and "$4000+ avg. monthly earnings". Some partners turn that into a media business. They run YouTube ads from their own accounts with their code in the link:
- via=andremartin: France in March and April 2026, then Algeria and Morocco through June. 8 video ads
- via=tjokro: Indonesia, July 2026
- via=mehdi-ghazzai: Morocco from July 2026, Morocco and Tunisia still in October
- ref=jpel108143: the UK, July 2026, straight to the register page
One partner ad in July shows app.emergent.sh/sale/$396 as its display URL. $396 is what the Pro plan saves when paid annually: $167 a month instead of $200.
That's not random. An annual plan is paid on day one, so the whole year lands inside the 6-month commission window. A partner selling annual earns on twelve months of revenue in the first payment.
Two pages describe the program differently. The terms say last-touch attribution and payment through Wise only. The public FAQ on the affiliate page still says first-touch and PayPal.
The contests are the country launch
Emergent doesn't launch countries. It launches contests. Each edition has its own prize pool in local currency, its own dates and usually a local celebrity.
| Edition | Dates (2026) | Prize |
|---|---|---|
| Raj Shamani x Emergent, India | 26 June - 31 July | ₹1 crore to the top three |
| Fabrizio Romano x Emergent | 1 - 31 July | $100,000 to the top three |
| Building Turkey | 4 - 25 August | Over ₺2 million across 100 winners |
| Building France and Building Indonesia | 10 August - 20 September | Rp 800 million in Indonesia |
| Kevin O'Leary x Emergent | 17 August - 20 September | $100,000 across 100 winners |
| Simon Squibb's business competition | 24 October - 20 November | Open now |
The ads move with the calendar. Emergent ads last shown in Indonesia: 13 in July, 50 in August, 36 in September. Turkey: 28 in July, 58 in August, 11 in September, after its edition closed.
The search copy sells the prize, not the product. "Rp 800 million in prizes at Indonesia's biggest AI build fest. Enter free, build fast." "Turkiye's most trusted AI platform. Enter the contest before it closes." One display path is literally /ai/contest.
Every entrant builds an app on Emergent to enter. The contest is the free trial, the case study and the press release in one.
What the campaign names give away
Emergent's tracking links read like an account map.
| Campaign name | What it is | Ran |
|---|---|---|
| Admattic_Emergent_USA_PMax_14082025 | US Performance Max, agency-built | Aug-Sep 2025 |
| Admattic_Emergent_USA_PMax_Desktop_28082025 | Desktop-only PMax, two ad groups: USA_Pmax_generic_signals and USA_Broad_Pmax_competition_signals | Aug-Sep 2025 |
| Admattic_Emergent_RM_Signup_Display_26082025 | Display remarketing to people who signed up | Aug-Sep 2025 |
| Admattic_Emergent_RM_purchase_Display_26082025 | Display remarketing to people who paid | Aug-Sep 2025 |
| Admattic_Emergent_Youtube_01092025 | YouTube views, US, UK, Canada, Australia | Sep 2025 |
| demand_gen_intemp | Demand Gen for India, Bangladesh and Pakistan | Sep 2025 |
| demand_gen_us_youtube_webcom | Demand Gen on US YouTube | to Jan 2026 |
| utm_medium=influencer, utm_campaign=vladkachur | A creator's video run as a YouTube ad | Oct 2025 |
The US launch ran through an agency, Admattic, with a strict convention: agency, brand, market, campaign type, launch date. Performance Max was split by audience signal rather than by product - one ad group on generic signals, one on competitor signals - so the two kinds of traffic report separately. Remarketing is split by funnel stage.
The lowercase demand_gen names next to it look in-house. They covered India, Bangladesh and Pakistan in September 2025 and US YouTube into January 2026.
The search ads carry the ad-group taxonomy in their display paths:
| Display path | Variations | Typical headline |
|---|---|---|
| /ai/builder | 105 | AI website builder - AI Website Generator |
| /app/builder | 57 | Build an App for Free - Create Your Own App or Website |
| /vibe/coding | 55 | What are the Best Vibe Coding Practices? |
| /start/now | 48 | AI-Powered App Builder - Build Apps Without Coding |
| /vibecoding/platform | 7 | Emergent: Build it Free |
| /no/code | 5 | No-Code App Builder - AI-based app builder |
Emergent's own ads reached 152 regions. India 431 placements, France 409, the US 467, Germany 373, Spain 342.
Meta: one page, and a pitch about money
Emergent's Meta account is small. 40 ads in total, 16 live on 13 October 2026. All 40 go to the same URL: app.emergent.sh/landing?utm_shift=redirect. That includes the creator's ad, so on Meta Emergent can't tell a creator click from its own.
The pitch moved in two steps.
- July: price. "Start Building from Just $1". "Get 15k credits across the year. This will be the smartest upgrade you will make." "Upgrade Once. Build All Year." 1,250 credits a month on Pro Annual, where the pricing page lists 750.
- Since August: money. "Create monetizable apps and sites" is on 21 ads. "Turn Your Idea Into a Real Business" on 8. The current creatives include street interviews captioned "Make your dream for $1... Seriously".
Gender targeting is set to all. 92% of the EU-reported reach is male: 25-34 is 38% of it, 35-44 another 29%. The ads targeting the UK used a minimum age of 18 or 23. Two July ads ran in German, and one of them was set to the UK.
One creator, Chris Cordero, ran 2 paid-partnership ads in July. "Comment BUILD and I'll send the link. Most people don't need another app idea. They need a way to ship it." They reached 53,355 people in the UK - 53% of the UK reach Meta reports for Emergent, from 2 of 10 UK ads.
LinkedIn: not this Emergent
Emergent runs no LinkedIn ads. The 72 LinkedIn ads under the name "Emergent" belong to a carbon-credit company promoting a paper on SBTi and ISO net-zero standards, aimed at London, Paris, Frankfurt and other European business hubs.
What actually makes this work
Emergent stopped treating its own brand query as its job. Partners fill it, whatever the terms say, and the company spends where partners won't: on rivals' names and on the category.
Contests do what translated ads can't. A local celebrity and a prize in local currency make Emergent the news in a market for a month, and every entry is a built app.
The offer is built for the commission. Partners earn on 6 months of revenue, the annual plan pays 12 up front, and Emergent sells annual hardest in its own ads.
