Most Wix Facebook ads problems are one of eight things: the pixel is on the wrong plan, the domain is not verified, the event is not marked, the catalogue is out of sync, the campaign is stuck in review, the ad account is restricted, Instagram is not connected, or the Wix ads app and Ads Manager are fighting over the same campaign. Each has a specific fix, and none of them is “Facebook ads do not work for Wix sites”.
Wix is unusual among site builders in that it ships its own Facebook and Instagram ads app inside the dashboard, alongside a Facebook pixel integration and a Facebook Shop sales channel for Wix Stores. That is convenient for a first campaign and confusing the moment something breaks, because the error can sit in Wix, in Meta Business Suite, or between them. This guide goes problem by problem, then gives the setup that avoids the problems in the first place.
What Wix supports natively
Wix’s help centre and Marketing Integrations, checked on September 4, 2026, give a Wix site more native Facebook support than most builders:
Wix does
- Facebook & Instagram Ads app. A Wix-dashboard flow that creates a Meta campaign from your site content, with budget and audience set inside Wix; Wix manages the campaign in your connected ad account.
- Facebook pixel integration. Under Marketing Integrations you paste your pixel ID and Wix installs it on every page and fires standard events for Wix Stores (ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, Purchase) and Wix Bookings.
- Facebook Shop channel. Wix Stores products sync to a Meta catalogue for shop tabs and catalogue ads.
- Custom code. On Premium plans you can add scripts to the site head and body, which is how the Conversions API gateway or a second pixel goes in.
Wix does not
- Give you the full Ads Manager feature set from inside Wix: the Wix ads app is a simplified flow, with limited objectives, placements and creative control.
- Install the pixel on a free plan without a connected domain: Marketing Integrations require a Premium plan and a connected domain.
- Fire custom events for non-Store actions (a form submit, a quote request) without custom code or Wix Velo.
- Optimise a running campaign beyond the basic controls in the Wix ads app.
The pattern that holds up: Wix for the pixel and the catalogue, and Ads Manager, or an agent such as Sprites driving it through the official API, for the campaigns. Most of the problems below come from mixing the two.
The eight problems and their fixes
Work down the list in order; the first four cover most of the unanswered threads on the Wix and Facebook groups.
The Facebook pixel is not firing on my Wix site
Check the plan first: Marketing Integrations, including the Facebook pixel, need a Premium plan and a connected domain, so a free site or an unconnected domain shows the integration but never fires. Then confirm the pixel ID under Marketing & SEO → Marketing Integrations → Facebook Pixel matches the dataset in Meta Events Manager, publish the site, and test on the live domain (not the editor preview) with the Meta Pixel Helper. If you also pasted the base code as custom code, remove one copy; two pixels double-count.
Domain verification fails in Meta Business Suite
Use the meta-tag method: copy the verification tag from Business Settings → Brand Safety and Suitability → Domains and add it under Settings → Custom Code as a head tag on all pages, then publish and click Verify. The DNS TXT method works too if the domain is managed at Wix, but the propagation wait is longer. Verify the domain your site actually serves on (with or without www) and make sure the site is not under a password or a coming-soon page, which hides the tag from Meta’s crawler.
Purchases happen but Ads Manager shows no conversions
Wix fires the Purchase event only for Wix Stores checkouts; a Wix Bookings, Wix Restaurants, Pricing Plans or third-party checkout will not send it. Confirm in Events Manager → Test Events that a live test purchase arrives, then mark Purchase as the conversion in the campaign’s ad set. If the campaign was created before the event existed, edit the ad set to the right event; if events arrive but conversions do not, check the attribution window and that the ad set’s pixel is the one Wix installed.
Catalogue errors: products missing or “item not available”
Open the Facebook Shop channel in the Wix dashboard and check the sync status per product. The usual causes are products without an image, without a price, hidden from the online store, or with a variant that has no SKU. Fix the product in Wix Stores, re-sync, then in Commerce Manager check Diagnostics for policy rejections (medical claims, restricted categories) which Wix cannot fix for you.
The campaign from the Wix ads app is stuck in review or was rejected
The Wix app submits to the same review as Ads Manager, so a rejection is a Meta policy call: restricted categories, personal attributes in copy, before-and-after images, or a landing page that does not match the ad. Read the rejection reason in Ads Manager (Wix shows only a summary), fix the creative or the page, and resubmit. If the campaign sits in review for more than 48 hours, request a review in Ads Manager rather than recreating it in Wix, which creates a duplicate.
Ad account disabled or “advertising access restricted”
This is an account-level Meta decision and Wix cannot lift it. Check Account Quality in Business Suite for the reason, complete identity or business verification if requested, and appeal from there. While restricted, the Wix ads app will show errors on launch; do not create a new ad account to route around it, which typically extends the restriction to the business portfolio.
Instagram placements are unavailable
Instagram placements need an Instagram Business or Creator account connected to the Facebook Page linked to your ad account. Connect it in Business Suite → Settings → Instagram accounts, then reconnect the Facebook channel in Wix (Marketing & SEO → Social Media Marketing) so the Wix ads app can see it. Personal Instagram accounts cannot be used.
Changes in Wix and Ads Manager keep overwriting each other
Pick one control surface per campaign. The Wix ads app owns the campaigns it created and re-applies its settings; editing those campaigns in Ads Manager, or editing Ads Manager campaigns from Wix, produces exactly the drift people describe as “my changes disappeared”. For anything beyond a first campaign, create and manage campaigns in Ads Manager (or an agent that drives it) and leave the Wix app for the pixel and catalogue only.
The clean Facebook ads setup for a Wix site
If you are starting fresh, or the fixes above turned into a rebuild, this is the order that avoids every problem in the list.
1. Upgrade the plan and connect the domain
Marketing Integrations, custom code and the Facebook Shop channel all require a Premium plan with a connected domain. Do this before touching Meta so that the pixel, the verification tag and the catalogue have somewhere to live.
2. Verify the domain and connect the assets in Meta
In Meta Business Suite verify the domain with the meta-tag method through Wix custom code, connect the Facebook Page and the Instagram Business account, and confirm the ad account has billing and no Account Quality warnings.
3. Install the pixel through Marketing Integrations
Create a dataset in Events Manager, paste its ID under Marketing & SEO → Marketing Integrations → Facebook Pixel, publish, and test on the live domain with the Pixel Helper. Do not also paste the base code as custom code. For Wix Stores the standard commerce events now fire automatically.
4. Add events for non-Store conversions
If your conversion is a form, a booking or a call rather than a Store purchase, add a Lead or Contact event: either a custom-code snippet on the thank-you page or a Velo fbq('track', 'Lead') call on form submit. Mark it as a conversion in Events Manager.
5. Sync the catalogue (Wix Stores only)
Turn on the Facebook Shop channel, resolve every product flagged in the sync status (image, price, visibility, SKU), and check Commerce Manager Diagnostics for policy issues. Catalogue ads and Advantage+ Shopping campaigns depend on a clean feed.
6. Build the campaign in Ads Manager, not the Wix app
Use the Sales objective for Stores or Leads for services, bid on the marked conversion, use Advantage+ placements, and start with broad targeting and three to five creatives. Look at what your category already runs in the ads library before writing; long-running ads are proof of what converts.
7. Optimise weekly from the same three reports
Cost per result by ad, frequency by ad set, and Events Manager’s event match quality. Cut the worst creative, fund the best ad set, refresh one creative, and re-check that the pixel still fires after any Wix editor change, which is the most common way a working setup silently breaks. Sprites runs that pixel check every week as part of the loop and flags the break the week it happens.
Where automation takes over
Half the problems above come from the setup, which is done once. The other half come from the weekly loop nobody has time for, and from site edits that quietly break tracking weeks later.
Sprites connects to the Meta ad account through the official partner API, checks that the pixel and events on the Wix domain are firing before it spends, researches the category (including competitor ads from the ads library), builds the campaign, and runs the weekly optimisation: budgets, creative rotation, placements, audience hygiene. Every change is proposed with its reasoning and waits for approval, and a tracking break is flagged the week it happens rather than discovered at month end.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my Facebook ads not working on Wix?
Usually one of eight fixable causes: the pixel needs a Premium plan and connected domain, the domain is not verified in Meta, the conversion event is not fired or not marked, the product catalogue has sync errors, the campaign is in review or rejected, the ad account is restricted, Instagram is not connected, or the Wix ads app and Ads Manager are overwriting each other. Work down that list in order.
Does Wix support the Facebook pixel?
Yes. On a Premium plan with a connected domain, paste your pixel ID under Marketing & SEO → Marketing Integrations and Wix installs it on every page, firing standard commerce events for Wix Stores automatically. Free plans and unconnected domains cannot use it.
Should I use the Wix Facebook ads app or Ads Manager?
The Wix app is fine for a first campaign; it is a simplified flow with limited objectives and placements. For anything you intend to optimise, build and manage campaigns in Ads Manager or through an agent that drives it, and use Wix only for the pixel and catalogue. Never edit the same campaign from both.
Does Wix support the Meta Conversions API?
Not as a one-click integration in the standard pixel setup at the time of writing. You can send server-side events through a Conversions API gateway or a tag manager added via custom code, or through an ad automation platform that mirrors the browser events. For most Wix Stores the browser pixel with Wix’s standard events is sufficient to start.
How do I track form submissions on Wix for Facebook ads?
Fire a Lead event on the thank-you page with a custom-code snippet, or from a Velo onSubmit handler with fbq("track", "Lead"), then mark Lead as a conversion in Events Manager and choose it as the ad set’s optimisation event.
Can Sprites manage Facebook ads for a Wix site?
Yes. Sprites verifies the pixel and events on the Wix domain, then builds and optimises Meta campaigns through the official API with every change approved by you. It also alerts you when a site edit stops the pixel firing.
