Build Topic Clusters
That Google Treats as Authority

Give Sprites a topic. It researches the queries around it, groups them into a pillar and supporting pages by intent, plans the internal links, and can write and publish the whole cluster.

What this template does

Ranking for a competitive topic takes a set of pages that cover it completely and link to each other in a way search engines can follow. This template builds that set from data. Sprites expands your topic through keyword research on the Google Ads API and question queries, reads the live results to learn the intent and format behind each query group, and then organizes the groups into one pillar page and the supporting pages that each own a subtopic.

The cluster plan is specific: each page has a target query group, a working title, an outline built from what the ranking pages cover and what they miss, and the internal links it should give and receive. If your site already has pages on the topic, they are placed into the cluster and marked for expansion or consolidation instead of being duplicated. Search Console data, when connected, shows which parts of the cluster you already rank for and which are open.

Because the SEO agent also writes and publishes, the plan does not stop at a spreadsheet. Approve the cluster and Sprites drafts the pages in order, inserts the internal links, adds schema and stages each page in WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or your custom site for approval.

Run it in Sprites

“Build an SEO topic cluster for my main topic with a pillar page, supporting articles and an internal linking plan”

Sign in, paste nothing: this prompt opens pre-filled. Sprites asks for what it needs, shows the plan, and waits for your approval before anything reaches an account.

Inputs and outputs

What you provide

  • The topic, or a seed keyword list from your own research or another tool
  • Your website, so existing pages can be folded into the cluster
  • Optional: Search Console connected, to see what you already rank for within the topic
  • Optional: a competitor whose coverage of the topic you want to exceed

What you get

  • A cluster map: the pillar page, each supporting page, and the query group and intent each one owns
  • An outline per page built from the live results, with the questions to answer and the angle the top results miss
  • An internal linking plan with anchor text between pillar and supporting pages, and from existing pages on your site
  • A placement for every existing page on the topic: keep, expand, merge or redirect
  • A publishing order, and drafts staged in your CMS for approval when you ask

How it runs

  1. Step 1

    Expand the topic

Sprites researches the topic through Google Ads keyword data and question queries, collecting every query with demand, and removes the ones that belong to a different topic.

  2. Step 2

    Group by intent

Queries are grouped by what the live results show searchers want. Groups that one page can serve are merged; groups that need different formats are kept apart.

  3. Step 3

    Assign pillar and supports

The broadest commercial or informational group becomes the pillar. Each remaining group becomes a supporting page with its own outline and a defined role in the cluster.

  4. Step 4

    Plan the links

Sprites specifies the links between pillar and supports, the anchors to use, and which existing pages on your site should link into the cluster.

  5. Step 5

    Write and publish

Approve the plan and the SEO agent drafts the pages in order, applies the links and schema, and stages each one in your CMS. A monthly Autopilot reports how the cluster is ranking.

Where teams use it

  • Owning a category

Build the cluster that makes your site the reference for a product category, from the definition query down to the specific comparisons.

  • Consolidating scattered posts

Turn a dozen overlapping articles into a pillar and supports with clear roles, merging what competes and linking what remains.

  • AI search visibility

Clusters with clear, quotable answers on each page are what ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews cite. Sprites structures the pages with that in mind.

  • Agencies

Deliver a cluster plan per client with the data attached, then execute it from the same workspace with client approval on each page.

Frequently asked questions

How does Sprites decide which topics become clusters?

+

By demand and coverage. It looks for topics where the total search volume across related queries is worth a set of pages, the live results show several distinct intents, and your site or your competitors leave gaps. It shows the numbers behind each recommendation.

Does it work with my existing content and keyword research?

+

Yes. Upload a keyword list and Sprites clusters it rather than starting over. Existing pages on the topic are read, placed in the cluster and marked for expansion, merge or redirect so nothing you already rank with is thrown away.

Can I customize clusters for my industry or niche?

+

Yes. The clusters are built from the actual queries in your category and the pages that rank for them, so they reflect how your buyers search. You can rename, split or merge groups and Sprites re-plans the links.

Will this help me outrank competitors?

+

It gives you the structure they usually lack: complete coverage, clear intent per page and deliberate internal links. Whether you outrank them still depends on the pages themselves and your site's authority, which is why the same agent writes and publishes the cluster.

Can I run this from Claude or ChatGPT?

+

Yes. Through the official Sprites MCP server you can build the cluster from Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or any MCP-compatible assistant and continue into writing and publishing with the same approval step.

Is anything published without my approval?

+

No. Every page is staged in a review card through your CMS integration and goes live only when you approve it. You can approve the plan and then each page individually, or batch them once you trust the output.
