Sydney Sweeney’s Novig ad is two campaigns. The one everybody saw is a nude, joke-led brand film Novig posted on X and Instagram on September 9, 2026; on X alone it passed 8.67 million views in two days. The one Novig pays to run went live on Facebook and Instagram the next morning: 95 new ads, 32 of them built on Sweeney, none of them nude, every one selling the same $25 sign-up credit, with up to $111,000 a month behind it at the high end of our estimate. The organic film buys attention; the paid library converts it.
Last reviewed September 11, 2026. Ad figures come from Novig’s Meta ad library as read by the Sprites ads library on September 11; organic figures from Novig’s public X, Instagram, TikTok and Threads accounts the same morning; press details are credited to the outlet that reported them.

The film everyone saw
The brand film is one joke told several ways. Novig lists nothing but sports, so the ad shows “just sports”: Sweeney nude behind footballs, basketballs, a hockey net and a pool table, as Variety described it. On the pool table she says “You can’t trade this. I just look good here.” The film opens on the line the rest of the campaign keeps repeating: “Think you know sports? Prove it.”
It works as a positioning ad before it works as a celebrity ad. Kalshi and Polymarket list contracts on elections and world events; Novig’s whole pitch is that it does not. “No wars. No death. No politics. Just sports,” was the line Jacob Fortinsky, Novig’s co-founder and CEO, posted with it. The nudity is a visual pun on the product’s one differentiator, which is why the spot is remembered as an argument and not only as a stunt.
Sweeney is not a hired face. Novig announced her as a strategic partner and equity holder, and she told Complex she was in “the creative conversations from the very beginning,” adding: “I don’t like to just put my face on something.” Fortinsky told Front Office Sports she approached Novig, and was frank about why it matters to a startup: “Sydney is great at captivating audiences and being the center of attention. In some sense, it forces us into the national discourse.” After her 2025 American Eagle jeans campaign, nobody on either side was unclear about what she brings.
The organic numbers
We read Novig’s public accounts on every platform it runs, through the same social-analytics feeds the Sprites agent uses. The campaign lives almost entirely on one post. Novig pinned the film to its X profile at September 9, 2026, 9:03 a.m. ET, captioned “Confirmed: Sydney Sweeney knows ball.”, as a 58-second 16:9 video.
| Post | Platform | Views or plays | Likes | Other engagement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “Confirmed: Sydney Sweeney knows ball.” (Sept 9) | X | 8,671,642 | 79,979 | 3,855 reposts, 1,924 quotes, 971 replies, 50,118 bookmarks |
| Novig’s best Instagram reel in the read (Aug 3) | 449,767 | 42,102 | Ohio State receivers, a football highlight | |
| Novig’s best other X post in the read (Sept 10) | X | 71,007 | 83 | An interception leaderboard |
| Novig’s median X post, Sept 10–11 | X | 7,581 | 30 | Game-night stats and jokes |
- It outran everything else Novig has posted. The film’s 8.67 million views are 1,144 times Novig’s median X post and 122 times its next-best post in the same read, and about 199 views for each of Novig’s 43,550 X followers. Almost all of that audience had never followed Novig.
- People saved it and argued about it. 50,118 bookmarks is one for every 173 views, and 1,924 quote posts mean it was shared with commentary attached. Engagement overall ran at 1.0% of views.
- Instagram is the dark half. The Instagram version went up the same day as a joint post with Sweeney, captioned “just sports @novig” with a #partner tag, according to entertainment press coverage. Sweeney’s profile is restricted for logged-out viewers and the post does not appear in Novig’s public grid or reels, so its reach cannot be read from outside. Novig’s own Instagram bio now reads “Where America Predicts / Just Sports” and links to the campaign page, in front of 59,178 followers.
- TikTok and Threads were skipped. Neither account carries the film; both kept posting game-night content. Novig’s TikTok has 3,671 followers, so the film lost little by staying off it.
- The earned media was worth more than a month of ads. Buying 8.67 million video views at a deliberately high $20 CPM would cost about $173,000, more than the $111,000 a month we estimate Novig puts into Meta at the high end, and that is before a single press write-up is counted.
What Novig actually pays to run
Search the Meta Ad Library for Novig and the viral film is not there. What is there is a performance campaign cut from the same photo shoot. Of the 95 ads that launched on September 10, Sweeney appears in 32: 17 carousels, 9 videos and 6 statics. Of those, 23 show her in an oversized white Novig #33 jersey and 9 are cropped at the shoulders, 7 of those with a baseball bat. No paid ad shows the hockey net, the pool table or the full-body set-ups. One ad for every design:
Every Sweeney variant
Six photographs and four layouts make up all 32 ads. Each carousel carries one design at 9:16, landscape and square, so Meta can serve a native shape in Stories, Reels and the feed.
| Photograph | Ads | Layouts used |
|---|---|---|
| Novig #33 jersey, football raised | 17 | Condensed “DEPOSIT $10 / GET $25” stack, left; Centered stack with a “[ JUST SPORTS ]” tag; Frosted glass card, “Deposit $10 / Get $25” |
| Novig #33 jersey, football held low | 1 | Condensed “DEPOSIT $10 / GET $25” stack, left |
| Novig #33 jersey, crouching | 3 | Headline across the top, “Deposit $10, Get $25” |
| Novig #33 jersey, close-up | 2 | Condensed “DEPOSIT $10 / GET $25” stack, left |
| Bare-shouldered, bat over the shoulder | 7 | Condensed “DEPOSIT $10 / GET $25” stack, left; Centered stack with a “[ JUST SPORTS ]” tag |
| Bare-shouldered, football | 2 | Condensed “DEPOSIT $10 / GET $25” stack, left |
| Headline and body | Sweeney ads |
|---|---|
| “New Users Get $25 in Trade Credits” / “You’ve got sports takes. Novig lets you trade them.” | 22 |
| “Try Novig Today. New Users Get $25 in Trade Credits” / “Make your first trade on Novig and back the sports takes you already have.” | 10 |
- She never speaks, and she is never named. Every Sweeney video is a ten-second animated still: the same photograph, with “Deposit $10 / Get $25 / in Trade Credits” building in over the first three seconds. The 9 video ads run on just 4 video files. The ad copy does not mention her once; recognition does all the work.
- The offer is the message. Two headline-and-body pairs cover every Sweeney ad, and both lead with the $25 credit. The provocation stayed on X and Instagram; the paid feed is an install campaign with a famous face on it.
- The brand line barely reaches paid. Only 9 ads carry a small “[ JUST SPORTS ]” tag, the only place the campaign line appears in the paid library.
There is an obvious practical reason for the split. A paid ad has to clear Meta’s ad review, and Meta’s advertising rules on nudity and suggestive imagery are stricter than its rules for organic posts, so the full-body cut was unlikely ever to be the paid cut. The smarter point is that Novig did not treat that as a constraint: the organic film does the one job it is uniquely good at, which is getting talked about, and the paid ads do the job organic cannot, which is sending the curious straight to an install button.
Novig replaced its whole ad library on launch day
The Sprites ads library read Novig’s Meta page on September 4 and again on September 11. Between the two reads Novig switched off everything. None of the 80 ads recorded on September 4 was still in Meta’s active list a week later, and all 95 ads in it had launched on the same day, September 10. (Meta’s own counter put Novig at 138 active ads on the day, because it counts every ad grouped under a shared creative.)
The non-Sweeney two-thirds of the launch is mostly recycling. Of its 53 videos, 40 are files that already ran before September 4, relaunched under new ad ids. The only new non-Sweeney footage is 13 New York street interviews, and they open on the campaign line.
| Format | Ads | On-screen hook |
|---|---|---|
| Street interviews | 24 | “Think you know ball? Prove it!” |
| Creator talking heads | 18 | “I only have $10 bucks… What’s my next play?” |
| Offer carousels, no talent | 10 | “DEPOSIT $10, GET $25” |
| Fake-post screenshots | 4 | “FINALLY! Novig is available for players NATIONWIDE!” |
| Novig vs sportsbooks split screens | 4 | “No limits on winners” |
| Motion graphics | 3 | “Same Pick. Trade Smarter.” |
That street-interview hook is the discipline in the plan. The celebrity sets the line and the cheap formats repeat it, so a viewer who saw the Sweeney film on X meets the same challenge from a stranger with a microphone in their Reels feed an hour later. The longest-running ad before the campaign, the blue “Deposit $10, Get $25” motion graphic above, ran from August 5 to September 4 and came back on September 10 under two new ids. The offer did not change at all. Everything around it did.
Every funnel, mapped
The campaign sends people down five paths, and every one ends at the same $10 deposit.
| Entry point | Path | Where it lands |
|---|---|---|
| The film on X | Pinned post, no link. Viewers go to Novig’s profile or search for it. | Brand search and the profile, then the app stores |
| Joint post with Sweeney; Novig’s bio links to novig.com/justsports | The campaign page: the film, “No war. No death. No politics. Just sports.”, the $25 offer, App Store and Google Play buttons behind AppsFlyer OneLink attribution links | |
| Paid Meta, iPhone | 85 of 95 live ads, “Install Now” where a button is set | The App Store listing directly, no web step |
| Paid Meta, Android | 10 live ads, all of them Sweeney ads | Google Play directly, a first: every ad in the September 4 read went to the App Store |
| Google search | No Novig search ad in Google’s Ads Transparency Center since March 4 | Organic results only, so the branded-search spike the film created is unguarded |
Three things stand out. The paid funnel has no web step at all: every paid ad installs the app directly, and the $25 credit does the persuading. The organic funnel is the only one with a landing page, which exists to carry the film to people who arrive from Instagram. And nobody is buying Novig’s name on Google, which leaves the brand searches the film created open to any competitor willing to bid on them. The end of every path is the same: on the morning of September 11 Novig ranked No. 20 among free Sports apps on the US App Store, behind ESPN Fantasy, DraftKings and FanDuel.
How much paid UA is behind it
No platform publishes spend, so this is an estimate, and we have taken the high end of every range. Calculated using Sprites’ proprietary AI model on the September 11 read, Novig’s Meta spend lands between $55,000 and $111,000 a month; the table uses the top of each range.
| Channel | High-end 30-day estimate | What it rests on |
|---|---|---|
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Audience Network) | $111,000 | 138 ads delivering by Meta’s own count, all refreshed on launch day |
| $1,000 | Three ads with no run dates; treated as fully live | |
| $0 | No search or video ad shown since March 4 | |
| TikTok, Snapchat, Apple Search Ads, streaming TV | Not counted | No public ad library exists for any of them |
- About $3,700 a day on Meta at the top of the range, an annual run rate of roughly $1.3 million on Facebook and Instagram alone.
- Up 52% on the pre-campaign library. The same model put the pre-campaign library at up to $73,000 a month; the new one runs more ads, all fresh.
- This is a floor on total paid UA, not a ceiling. Every channel without a public library is missing from the table, so anything Novig runs on TikTok, Snapchat, Apple Search Ads or streaming TV comes on top.
Set against the organic side, the paid number is modest. One post on X delivered earned media worth more than a month of Novig’s high-end Meta estimate, and the paid library exists to catch that attention on the one channel where a $25 offer and an install button can sit in the same ad.
Why the campaign works
- The provocation carries the positioning. “Just sports” is the product difference from Kalshi and Polymarket, and the joke makes it impossible to miss. Shock without a point would have been a one-day story.
- Equity changes the ad. A partner who owns part of the company shapes the creative, keeps posting it and defends it. Sweeney’s own framing, “not just be the face of it,” is the pitch.
- Channel jobs are split cleanly. Organic earns attention nobody could buy; paid converts it with the offer that was already working. Neither is asked to do the other’s job.
- The paid refresh was timed to the attention spike. The new library went live within a day of the viral post, when curiosity about Novig was at its peak.
- One line travels across every format. “Prove it” appears in the film, in the street interviews and in the challenge framing of the offer ads, so every cheap format reinforces the expensive one.
The risk is equally plain. A nude celebrity spot for a trading product drew immediate criticism alongside the praise, and Fortinsky’s defence to Front Office Sports was that “trading is for adults.” Novig is also the only prediction market with a 21+ minimum, and the fine print on every paid ad says so. The campaign is built to be argued about, and the company has clearly decided that an argument is cheaper than obscurity.
What smaller brands can take from it
You do not need a celebrity equity partner to use the structure. You need to see it as six decisions rather than one big idea:
- Give each channel one job. Let organic be bold enough to be shared; keep paid clear enough to convert. Most brands make one asset do both and it does neither well.
- Shoot once, cut for every placement. Novig’s whole paid library comes from six photographs. Plan the 9:16, square and landscape crops at the shoot rather than in the edit.
- Keep the offer constant and rotate the creative. The $25 credit was the lead offer before the campaign and is still the only one. Changing faces is a creative test; changing the offer at the same time makes it unreadable.
- Write one line and put it everywhere. “Prove it” costs nothing to reuse in a UGC brief, and it makes a ten-dollar video part of a celebrity campaign.
- Refresh paid on the day attention peaks. Have the paid set approved and ready before the organic launch, not scheduled for the following week.
- Buy your own name before the spike. A viral moment sends people to search. If you are not on your own brand term, the demand you created is for sale to your competitors.
How to track a competitor’s campaign launch like this
This breakdown came from reading the same ad library twice, a week apart, and the same social accounts once. The comparison is the insight: a single snapshot shows 95 ads, while two snapshots show that a brand threw out its entire library and rebuilt it around one person on one day. The Novig page in the Sprites ads library has every ad from both reads, with the videos playable and each ad’s launch date, and the full ads library tracks more than eighty advertisers the same way. For the method behind reading one, see how to analyze competitor ads and the seven ad hook styles.
If you would rather not do the reading by hand, Sprites’ creative analytics pulls a competitor’s live ads from the Meta, Google and LinkedIn libraries, breaks the longest runners into hook, angle, format and destination, and turns what it finds into briefs and ads for your own account, launched with your approval. Frequently asked questions
Who is in the Novig ad?
Sydney Sweeney. The Euphoria star fronts Novig’s “Just Sports” campaign, released on X and Instagram on September 9, 2026, and appears in 32 of the 95 Facebook and Instagram ads Novig launched the next day.
How many views did the Sydney Sweeney Novig ad get?
Novig’s post of the film on X had 8.67 million views, 79,979 likes and 50,118 bookmarks two days after it went up, about 199 views for every follower Novig has on X. The Instagram version cannot be counted publicly, because Sweeney’s profile is restricted for logged-out viewers.
How much is Novig spending on ads?
Up to about $111,000 a month on Meta at the high end of Sprites’ estimate, up from $73,000 before the campaign, which is an annual run rate of roughly $1.3 million on Facebook and Instagram alone. The figure is calculated using Sprites’ proprietary AI model; TikTok, Snapchat, Apple Search Ads and streaming TV publish no library, so nothing there is counted.
Does Sydney Sweeney own part of Novig?
Yes. Novig announced her as a strategic partner and equity holder alongside the campaign. The size of the stake has not been disclosed. Novig’s CEO, Jacob Fortinsky, told Front Office Sports that Sweeney approached the company.
What is Novig?
Novig is a sports-only prediction market: users trade contracts on the outcome of games rather than betting against a sportsbook. It received CFTC designation as a Designated Contract Market on June 16, 2026, launched nationwide on August 4, 2026, and is the only prediction market that requires users to be 21 or older. It lists no contracts on politics, economics or entertainment.
Is the Sydney Sweeney Novig ad nude?
The organic film on X and Instagram shows her posing nude behind sports equipment, according to Variety and Fox News. The paid Facebook and Instagram ads do not: 23 of the 32 show her in an oversized Novig #33 jersey, and 9 are cropped at the shoulders with a bat or a football.
What does the Novig Sydney Sweeney ad say?
The film opens on “Think you know sports? Prove it.” The paid ads say something else entirely: every one of them carries the new-user offer, “Deposit $10, Get $25 in Trade Credits,” with 21+ fine print, and none of them mentions Sweeney by name.
Where can I see all of Novig’s ads?
Every ad in Novig’s Meta library, with the videos playable and each ad’s launch date, is on the Novig page of the Sprites ads library. Meta’s own Ad Library holds the same ads under Novig’s Facebook page.
