The short answer
- Marketers use Claude for three jobs: writing (copy, briefs, posts, rewrites), analysis (exports, spreadsheets, research with web search), and acting on live tools through connectors.
- Projects hold your brand voice, product facts and past work so every chat starts with context. Anthropic says Projects are available on every plan.
- Connectors use MCP to let Claude read and act in other services, with the permissions you already have there. Anthropic offers a connectors directory and lets you add custom connectors by URL.
- For ad and SEO accounts, a marketing connector like Sprites lets Claude audit and change campaigns, with every write shown as an approval card first.
What Claude is good at for marketing
Claude is strongest on long-context reading and careful writing. Hand it a 40-page customer research doc, a messy CSV export or a competitor's whole pricing page, and it will work through all of it before answering.
The features that matter most for marketing work, per Anthropic's own help center:
| Feature | What it does for a marketer | Availability (per Anthropic) |
|---|---|---|
| Projects | A workspace with its own instructions and uploaded files, so brand voice and product facts persist across chats | All plans; the lowest tier is capped at five projects; sharing on Team and Enterprise |
| Web search | Current facts, competitor pages and news, with citations in every answer | All plans, on recent models |
| File creation | Builds Excel models, PowerPoint decks, Word docs and PDFs by running code in a sandbox | All plans on web, desktop and mobile |
| Connectors | Read and act in other services (drive, chat, project tools, marketing platforms) | All plans; custom connectors on every plan, one on the entry tier |
Writing: copy, briefs and content
Writing is where most marketers start. The quality jump comes from context, not clever prompts.
Set up a brand project once
- Create a Project called "Brand".
- Upload your positioning doc, three to five pieces of your best copy, product and pricing facts, and a list of words you never use.
- Write project instructions: audience, tone, reading level, banned phrases, and "ask before inventing a statistic."
Every chat in that project starts with all of it. You stop re-explaining your product in every conversation.
Tasks that work well
- Ad copy variants. "Write 15 Google Ads headlines under 30 characters for [offer], five each for price, speed and trust angles."
- Briefs. Paste the top-ranking pages' outlines and ask for a brief that covers what they miss.
- Rewrites. Turn a webinar transcript into a blog post, five LinkedIn posts and an email.
- Edits. "Cut this landing page by 30% without losing any product fact."
Always check numbers and claims. Claude writes confidently, and a confident wrong price on a landing page is worse than a vague one.
Analysis: exports, spreadsheets and research
Claude can read uploaded files and run code to analyze them, then hand back a spreadsheet or deck.
- Campaign exports. Upload a search terms report and ask for the queries that spent money with no conversions, grouped by theme, as a negative keyword list.
- Survey and review mining. Upload 500 reviews and ask for the ten most common objections with a representative quote for each.
- Competitor research. With web search on, ask for a table of three competitors' plans and prices, and check the cited sources.
- Reporting decks. Upload last month's numbers and ask for a five-slide PowerPoint with one chart per channel.
The limit of this workflow is the export. You download data, upload it, get an answer, then make the changes by hand in each ad platform. That is the gap connectors close.
Connectors and MCP: Claude on live accounts
Anthropic describes connectors as a way to let Claude access your apps and services, retrieve your data and take actions within them. They run on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard for connecting AI assistants to tools.
How to add one
- In Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors.
- Browse the directory, or choose to add a custom connector and paste the server URL.
- Sign in to the service when prompted. Claude then has the same access you have there, and no more.
- On Team and Enterprise plans, an Owner adds the connector for the organization first; each person then connects with their own login.
Read the security note
Anthropic warns that custom connectors can connect Claude to services it has not verified, and that a connected service may be able to read and change data based on your permissions. Only connect servers from companies you trust, review what each tool can do, and prefer connectors that ask before writing.

Using Claude with ad and SEO accounts through Sprites
Sprites is an AI marketing agent that connects to Claude as a connector. Once added, you can ask Claude marketing questions in plain language and Sprites does the work in your connected accounts.
- "Where is my Google Ads account wasting money?" Sprites reads search terms, wasted spend, Quality Score and impression share, and proposes negatives and budget changes.
- "Launch a Meta campaign for the fall sale." It builds the campaign, ad sets and ads, with audiences.
- "Write a post on [topic] and publish it to our blog." It researches the keyword, writes the post and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Framer.
- "How do we show up in ChatGPT for [category]?" It checks the brand's presence in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity answers for chosen prompts.
Every change arrives as an editable approval card. Nothing is applied to an account until you approve it. Ads channels covered are Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, LinkedIn and Reddit for creating and editing, and TikTok for reporting and analysis.
Two limits to be clear about. Sprites does not track how brands appear in Claude's own answers; its AI visibility checks cover ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. And it acts only on channels you have connected inside Sprites.
Setup steps for each assistant are on the Sprites MCP page, with a Claude-specific walkthrough for Google Ads in Claude. If you are deciding between running marketing in Claude alone or with Sprites, Sprites vs Claude lays out the difference.
A weekly routine for a marketer using Claude
- Monday, in the Brand project: ask Claude, with the Sprites connector on, for last week's performance across Google and Meta, and what changed.
- Monday, still in that chat: ask for the three changes worth making. Review the approval cards, edit, approve.
- Wednesday: draft the week's content in the Brand project. Have Sprites publish the blog post after you approve it.
- Friday: upload any offline data (sales calls, CRM export) and ask Claude what it says about lead quality by channel.
Claude handles the thinking and writing. The connector handles the accounts. You make the calls.
Where Claude falls short for marketing
Claude is a general assistant. A few gaps show up quickly in marketing work, and each has a workaround.
- No memory of your accounts by default. Without a connector, Claude only knows what you paste or upload. Last month's numbers are gone unless they are in a Project file.
- It cannot see the ad platforms. On its own, Claude cannot log into Google Ads or Meta Ads Manager. It can tell you what to change; you still click the buttons. A marketing connector fixes this.
- Exports go stale. An analysis built on a CSV from Tuesday is wrong by Friday. Live connectors read current data each time.
- Invented specifics. Asked for a statistic it does not have, a model may produce a plausible one. Keep "ask before inventing a statistic" in your project instructions, and use web search with citations for facts.
- Write access varies by connector. What Claude can change in a tool depends on the connector and your permissions there. Prefer marketing connectors that show each change for approval before applying it.
What it costs
Claude has its own plans, listed on Anthropic's pricing page; check there for current prices, since they change. Projects, web search, file creation and connectors are available on every plan, with limits on the entry tier.
Sprites is priced separately: Build at $99 a month for one ads agent, Launch at $495 for Google Ads, Meta and AI visibility, Grow at $985 for all six ads agents. Each starts with a 7-day trial for $1; see pricing.
Start with one Brand project and one connector. Add more once the first one saves you an hour a week.
