Why it happens
Installed on some pages, not all
Installed on some pages, not all
Page builders and landing page tools often use their own templates. The tag on your main site never reaches them.
Wrong Partner ID
Code copied from an old account, a previous agency or a tutorial. It installs fine and reports to someone else.
Google Tag Manager not published
The LinkedIn Insight tag sits in a workspace that was never submitted, or its trigger is not All Pages.
Installed twice
Once in the theme and once through a plugin or GTM. Page views double and conversion rules get noisy.
How to fix it, step by step
Get the code
In Campaign Manager, open Data, then Signals Manager, and open the Insight Tag source. Choose to install it yourself and copy the code, or note the Partner ID if you use a tag manager.
Google Tag Manager
Add a new tag using the LinkedIn Insight template, paste the Partner ID, set the trigger to All Pages, then Submit and publish the container.
WordPress
Paste the code into the site-wide header with a header and footer plugin, or into your theme header file just before the closing head tag. Clear any page cache afterwards.
Everything else
Paste the code into the global head or footer of every page, including landing pages built in separate tools.
Confirm it fires
Reload a page with the Network tab filtered for px.ads.linkedin.com. Then check Signals Manager for Active within 24 hours.
Add conversion rules
The tag on its own only records visits. Create conversions in Conversion tracking and attach them to your ad sets.
Steps checked against LinkedIn Help articles: Install the LinkedIn Insight Tag; Add the Insight Tag using Google Tag Manager; Troubleshoot conversions based on the Insight Tag or image pixel.
Sprites fixes this
Or let Sprites fix it
You paste the tag. Sprites checks it landed everywhere it should and builds the conversion rules that make it useful.
What Sprites does
- Verifies the install on your live site: script, Partner ID, lintrk references and noscript pixel, across the paths you name.
- Creates Insight Tag conversion rules in a batch, with URL rules that fire on the right pages, and hands you the pixel snippet for each one. You approve before anything is created.
- Attaches the new conversions to the ad sets that should be judged on them.
What it doesn't do
- Install or edit the tag on your site
Questions
Where do I find the LinkedIn Insight Tag code?
In Campaign Manager, under Data, then Signals Manager, on the Insight Tag source. The code includes your Partner ID.
Should I install it with Google Tag Manager or by hand?
Either works. Use Google Tag Manager if you already run one; it keeps every marketing tag in one place. Hand install is fine for a simple site.
Does the Insight Tag go in the head or the footer?
LinkedIn accepts either. What matters is that it loads on every page, once.
Is the Insight Tag ID the same as the Partner ID?
Yes. People use both names for the same number.
Do I still need the Conversions API?
The tag covers browser events. The Conversions API sends conversions from your server or CRM, which catches what blockers and consent tools stop. Most B2B accounts run both.
