Why it happens
Privacy thresholds
Privacy thresholds
Searches made by too few people are left out of the report and grouped as other search terms. Long-tail and B2B accounts lose the most.
Too short a date range
A term needs enough volume inside the window to clear the threshold. A longer range shows more terms.
Performance Max and other campaign types
Performance Max shows search terms in its own report and in search term insights, grouped differently from Search campaigns.
Data delay
Search terms for the last day or two may not have landed yet.
How to fix it, step by step
Widen the date range
In Campaigns, then Insights and reports, then Search terms, set 90 days. More terms clear the threshold.
Measure the hidden share
Compare the total cost of the visible terms with the campaign cost for the same range. The difference is spend you cannot see term by term.
Read the themes
Open Insights and reports, then Insights, then Search terms insights to see search categories that include hidden terms.
Tighten what you cannot see
If the hidden share is large, move broad keywords to phrase or exact so fewer unknown searches can trigger.

Sprites diagnoses this
Sprites diagnoses it
Sprites shows how much of your spend has no visible search term, and where the visible waste sits.
What Sprites does
- Reads every visible search term with its cost for any date range you name.
- Reads campaign cost for the same range, so the share of spend behind hidden terms becomes one number.
- Totals the zero-conversion spend among the terms you can see.
What it doesn't do
- It cannot unhide terms Google withholds for privacy. Nobody can.
- It does not read search term insights or Performance Max search terms.
Questions
Why does the search terms report not show all my searches?
Google leaves out searches that too few people made, to protect user privacy. Their clicks and cost are still in your campaign totals.
What are other search terms in Google Ads?
The low-volume searches Google does not list individually. They are counted in totals but not shown term by term.
Can I see the hidden search terms anywhere?
No tool can show the exact terms. Search term insights groups some of them into themes.
Does Performance Max have a search terms report?
Yes. Performance Max has search term reporting and search term insights, separate from Search campaigns.
