Why it happens
The action is less than 48 hours old
The action is less than 48 hours old
New actions sit in this status until the first conversion lands. Nothing to do but send traffic.
The campaigns behind it are paused or barely spending
No clicks, no conversions. Check that the campaigns optimizing for this action are actually live.
Traffic is too low to convert in a week
A form converting at 2% needs about 50 clicks a week to expect one lead. Under that, a quiet week is normal.
The tag fires on a page people rarely reach
An event snippet on a step the real flow skips, like an old thank-you URL after the form moved, reads as a working tag with no conversions.
How to fix it, step by step
Read the status detail
Go to Goals, then Conversions, then Summary. Hover the status on the action to see when it last recorded a conversion.
Check the campaigns behind it
Open Campaigns and confirm the campaigns optimizing for this action are enabled and getting clicks over the same 7 days.
Do a test conversion
Click Troubleshoot next to the action, or complete the conversion yourself with Tag Assistant connected, and confirm the event fires on the page the real flow ends on.
Give it a full conversion cycle
If clicks are thin, wait for volume before changing anything. If clicks are healthy and the test conversion does not record, treat it as a broken tag.

Sprites diagnoses this
Sprites diagnoses it
Sprites tells you whether this is a quiet week or a broken tag, from your own clicks and conversions.
What Sprites does
- Splits conversions by conversion action and shows the last day this one recorded anything.
- Puts clicks and spend for the same days beside it, so zero conversions on 400 clicks reads differently from zero on 12.
- Shows which campaigns optimize for this action and whether they are enabled.
- Flags final URLs that send clicks off your domain, where the tag cannot fire.
What it doesn't do
- It does not read the tracking status label itself or watch the tag fire on your site.
- It does not edit your site or Google Tag Manager.
Questions
What does no recent conversions mean in Google Ads?
The tag has been seen, but no conversions were recorded for the action in the last 7 days. Since July 2026 Google shows this as Awaiting conversions.
Is no recent conversions a problem?
Not always. A new action, paused campaigns or low traffic all produce it. It is a problem when clicks are healthy and a test conversion does not record.
What is the difference between no recent conversions and inactive?
No recent conversions means the tag works and nobody converted. Inactive, now Misconfigured, means Google cannot detect the tag firing at all.
How long until the status clears?
As soon as a conversion records. On a busy site that is minutes, on a low-traffic account it can be days.
