Add Sprites to ChatGPT
Available on Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web app. Not available on Free. You need a Sprites account with your channels already connected — the connector acts on that connection, so ChatGPT never handles a platform credential.
Turn on developer mode
Open Settings, go to Security and login, and switch Developer mode on. ChatGPT shows a warning that custom connectors run third-party code on your behalf — read it and accept. On Business and Enterprise workspaces an admin has to allow developer mode first.
Developer modeSettings → Security and loginCreate the Sprites app
Go to Settings → Plugins — this section was called Connectors until July 2026, which is why older guides send you to an Advanced tab that no longer exists. Press the + button to create a developer-mode app.

Give it a name and description, paste the Sprites endpoint, and set Authentication to OAuth. Tick the box confirming you trust the application, then click Create.

Connect the new app. ChatGPT sends you to the Sprites consent screen; sign in with the account holding your ad platforms and approve. The app then appears under Drafts in app settings and in the composer under the Developer mode tool.

Which ChatGPT surface you are on
Only the surfaces below are documented here. Where we have not verified a path, the page says so rather than implying the setup is the same everywhere.
ChatGPT on the webVerified
Developer mode under Settings → Security and login, then create the app under Plugins.

The desktop app has its own MCP server list. We have not verified the Sprites flow there, so follow the web steps until we have.
What ChatGPT can reach
All ten channels run through the one connector. Rows with a guide go deeper on that pairing; the rest are covered on the channel's own page.
| Channel | What ChatGPT does with it | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | The Apps SDK renders the Sprites approval card in the thread, so a change is edited where it is proposed. | Set up → |
| Meta | Creative previews render inline rather than arriving as a description you have to imagine. | Set up → |
| Cost per lead by job function, ABM account lists, sponsored content that converts. | Set up → | |
| TikTok | Hook-level hold rates, the next creative batch, and rotation before the CPA moves. | Set up → |
| Performance per subreddit, community-native copy, and the tourist traffic to cut. | Set up → | |
| GA4 | A GA4 question answered in the same thread the ad question was asked in, so the two can be compared. | Set up → |
| SEO | Keyword research, posts written into your CMS, and page edits that arrive as a diff. | Set up → |
| AEO | Who gets cited by ChatGPT and Perplexity for your prompts, and the pages that change it. | Set up → |
| Shopify | Store revenue joined to what the ads cost, which is the number neither Shopify nor the ad platform shows on its own. | Set up → |
| GBP | Per-location reads and posts, drafted per listing rather than copied across all of them. | Set up → |
Marketing workflows worth doing in ChatGPT
Developer mode gives ChatGPT full read-and-write MCP tools rather than the search-and-fetch pair the built-in connectors are limited to, and the Apps SDK renders the Sprites card in the thread.
Founder morning briefing
Yesterday across every channel in one answer: spend, leads, the biggest mover and what it cost, before the first meeting.
Campaign comparison
Two campaigns side by side on the metrics that decide budget, with the difference stated rather than left to be eyeballed.
Product-to-ad messaging check
What the ads promise against what the page says, so the mismatch that is costing conversion rate is visible.
Shopify merchandising review
Which products earn their ad spend and which quietly lose money on every order.
Local visibility briefing
How each location performs in local search, and which listings are missing the fields that keep them in the map pack.
Permissions, approvals and authentication
You sign in with OAuth and the connector acts on your workspace. No API keys in a config file, no shared service account, and revoking the grant kills the very next call.
| Action | When it happens | What that covers |
|---|---|---|
| Read an account | On request | Spend, performance, search terms, rankings, catalogue |
| Draft a change | On request | Campaigns, creative, budgets, pages and posts |
| Apply a change | Only on your approval | ChatGPT draws the approval card in the thread; it applies when you click |
| Spend money | Only on your approval | New campaigns start paused unless you say otherwise |
| Revoke access | Instantly | The next call after a revoke fails, not the one after that |
ChatGPT MCP questions
Why does ChatGPT say "connector" when everyone else says "MCP server"?
They are the same thing here: a connector in the ChatGPT interface is a remote MCP server. The words are not always interchangeable in the wider ecosystem — plenty of ChatGPT connectors are not MCP — but for a custom one you add by URL, they are.
Where did the Advanced tab under Connectors go?
Connectors was renamed Plugins, and developer mode moved to Settings → Security and login. Guides written before July 2026 send you to a tab that no longer exists.
Can it change my ad accounts on its own?
No. Reads happen on request; every write comes back as a change you approve first, and new campaigns start paused. Nothing is applied because a model decided it should be.
Which plans have developer mode?
Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web. Free does not. On Business and Enterprise an admin may need to allow developer mode for the workspace first.
The tools stopped appearing after a release. Why?
ChatGPT caches a connector's tool list. Use Refresh on the app in settings to pull the current tools and server instructions.
Point ChatGPT at your ad accounts
One URL, one sign-in, and the next question you ask ChatGPT about your marketing gets answered from the live account.
