Why it happens
A shared asset with a policy issue
A shared asset with a policy issue
The same headline, description, logo or image reused across every asset group, carrying a trademark or restricted claim.
Image or video quality and text rules
Images with overlaid text, blurry or cropped images, or videos that fail review.
The landing page
A final URL with its own destination issue limits every asset group that uses it.
A restricted business category
Healthcare, finance or gambling topics limit the whole campaign wherever they are not allowed.
How to fix it, step by step
Open the asset group status
Go to Campaigns, open the Performance Max campaign, then Asset groups. Hover over the status of each group to see the policy.
Find the flagged assets
Select Edit asset group, or open the Assets view for the campaign, and hover over each asset status to find the ones limited or disapproved.
Replace them
Remove or replace the flagged assets with compliant ones. The asset group goes back into review, usually one to two working days.
Appeal if Google is wrong
From Asset groups, Ads or Assets, select the item, then Edit, then Appeal policy decision, and pick Dispute decision.

What Sprites can and can't do here
Sprites cannot see policy on Performance Max assets yet. Here is what it can do around them.
What Sprites does
- Builds a replacement asset group with a fresh, complete set of headlines, descriptions and images, created paused, once you approve.
- Pauses a limited asset group or moves it to a new final URL, once you approve.
- Reads campaign spend against budget so you see what the limit is costing. More on the campaign type in Performance Max.
What it doesn't do
- It does not read the policy status of individual Performance Max assets, so it cannot tell you which asset is flagged.
- It does not edit assets inside an existing asset group, and it does not file appeals.
Questions
Why are all my asset groups limited by policy?
Usually one asset or final URL reused in every group. Fix the shared piece and every group clears.
Does a limited asset group still serve?
Yes, but with restricted reach. A disapproved asset group does not serve at all.
How long does a Performance Max asset review take?
Typically one to two working days. Edited asset groups do not serve the changed assets until they are reviewed.
Should I rebuild the asset group or edit it?
Edit it if you can find the flagged asset. Rebuilding resets learning, so keep it for when the group is a mess of mixed assets.
