Why it happens
Unreliable claims in the copy
Unreliable claims in the copy
Guaranteed results, best in the world, cure or get rich promises that the page does not support.
Dishonest pricing or unavailable offers
A price or discount in the ad that is not on the landing page, fees that only appear at checkout, or a deal that has ended.
Unclear business identity
No business name, address, contact details, return policy or privacy policy on the site, so Google cannot tell who is selling.
Clickbait or misleading design
Sensational copy, fake buttons or ads styled like system warnings.
Unacceptable business practices
Signals that the business itself is deceptive. This one suspends the account rather than one ad.
How to fix it, step by step
Read the exact sub-policy
Go to Campaigns, then Ads, and hover over the status, or open Tools, then Troubleshooting, then Policy manager. Note which of the ten Misrepresentation sub-policies is named.
Match the ad to the page
Every price, discount, claim and offer in the ad must appear on the landing page, current and unconditional or with its conditions shown.
Rewrite the claims
Remove superlatives and guarantees you cannot prove, and make the copy specific about what you actually offer.
Make the business visible on the site
Show your business name, contact details, returns, shipping and privacy pages. Complete advertiser verification if Google asks.
Appeal
In Policy manager select Appeal and choose Made changes to comply with policy. For a suspended account, use the suspension appeal instead.

Sprites fixes this
Or let Sprites fix it
Sprites finds the ads Google flagged for Misrepresentation and rewrites the copy that triggered them.
What Sprites does
- Reads the approval status and every policy topic on every ad, so you see which sub-policy hit which ad.
- Rewrites the offending headlines and descriptions in place, keeping the rest of the ad and its pins.
- Rolls one wording change across every ad that carries it in a single batch.
- You approve every change before it goes live.
What it doesn't do
- It does not edit your website, so business details, pricing and policies on the page are on you.
- It does not file appeals, complete advertiser verification or reverse an account suspension.
Questions
Does misrepresentation suspend my Google Ads account?
Only two of its sub-policies do: unacceptable business practices and coordinated deceptive practices. Those suspend without warning. The other eight disapprove individual ads.
What are the misrepresentation sub-policies?
Unacceptable business practices, coordinated deceptive practices, misleading representation, dishonest pricing practices, clickbait ads, misleading ad design, manipulated media, unreliable claims, unclear relevance and unavailable offers.
Can a missing contact page cause misrepresentation?
Yes. If the site does not say who runs it and how to reach them, Google can treat the identity as unclear.
Should I fix the ad or the website first?
Both, before you appeal. A rewritten ad that still lands on a page with hidden fees or no contact details gets flagged again, and repeat findings can escalate to the account.
How many times can I appeal?
Up to three appeals per ad, at least 24 hours apart. After that, support is the only route.
