Why it happens
Edits reset the queue
Edits reset the queue
Every edit sends the ad back to review. Editing a stuck ad to nudge it makes it wait longer.
A restricted or sensitive category
Healthcare, finance, gambling and similar topics get more careful review.
A new account or domain
New advertisers and new domains are checked more thoroughly.
The crawler cannot reach the page
If AdsBot cannot load the destination, the review stalls or ends in a destination disapproval.
How to fix it, step by step
Check the status
Go to Campaigns, then Ads, and look for Under review in the Status column. Note when each ad was last edited.
Stop editing
Do not edit or duplicate the ad while it is in review. Each change starts the clock again.
Check the destination
Make sure the final URL loads for everyone, AdsBot included.
Contact support after a week
Check the status again after two full business days. If the ad is still Under review after a week, contact Google Ads support from the Help menu and ask for the review to be checked.
Steps checked against Google Ads Help: About the ad review process; Google Ads Advertising Policies Help: Fix a disapproved ad or appeal a policy decision.
Sprites diagnoses this
Sprites diagnoses it
Sprites shows every ad still in review or under appeal, and which ones were edited mid-review.
What Sprites does
- Reads the review status on every ad: in review, reviewed, under appeal.
- Lines review status up with the account change history, so you see which edits restarted the queue.
- Lists the final URLs of the ads waiting in review.
What it doesn't do
- It cannot speed up Google’s review or contact Google support.
- It does not file appeals.
Questions
How long does Google Ads review take?
Most ads are reviewed within one business day. Some take longer when they need a closer look.
Can ads serve while under review?
Sometimes. Google may let an ad serve while review continues, shown as Eligible or Eligible (limited). An ad Under review with no impressions is waiting.
Should I duplicate an ad stuck in review?
No. The copy enters the same queue, and a duplicate of a problem ad hits the same problem.
What does under appeal mean?
You or someone on the account appealed a disapproval and Google is reviewing it again. Results show in Policy manager when the review finishes.
