Why it happens
A payment failed overnight
A payment failed overnight
Meta charges on a billing threshold or date. A declined charge stops every campaign until it is paid.
The account spending limit was reached
A lifetime cap set months ago gets hit eventually. Delivery stops the moment it is reached.
An end date or lifetime budget ran out
Scheduled campaigns finish on their end date. Lifetime budgets finish when spent.
An ad was rejected on re-review
Meta re-reviews running ads. An ad approved last week can be rejected today.
Yesterday’s edit restarted learning
A big budget jump, a new audience or new creative restarts learning. Delivery can dip for a day or two.
How to fix it, step by step
Billing and payments
Open Billing and payments in Meta Business Suite. Pay any failed charge and check the spending limit.
Delivery column
Sort campaigns by delivery in Ads Manager. Completed, Rejected and Off tell you what stopped.
Account Quality
Open Account Quality to see restrictions or rejected ads across the business portfolio.
Activity history
Check the ad account activity history for yesterday’s edits. If a change restarted learning, give it time rather than editing again.
Meta status page
Only if all of the above are clean, check the Meta status page for Ads Manager incidents.
Steps checked against Meta Business Help Center articles on billing, account spending limits, Account Quality, delivery statuses and the learning phase.
Sprites fixes this
Or let Sprites fix it
Sprites compares today with the days before, shows what changed and which ad sets stopped, and proposes the fix. You approve every change.
What Sprites does
- Finds the day delivery broke with a trend and inflection read, and lists the account changes made around it.
- Shows which ad sets and ads delivered nothing, with effective status and Meta’s delivery issue text.
- Reads schedule, end date, budget and review feedback on the stopped entities.
- Proposes the fix as an approval card: extend the schedule, restore the budget, or turn the level back on.
What it doesn't do
- Detect a Meta outage
- Fix billing or a payment hold
Questions
Is Facebook Ads down today?
Possibly, but it is rare. Billing, spending limits, end dates and rejections stop far more accounts. Check those before the Meta status page.
Why did my ads stop spending overnight?
Most often a failed payment or a reached account spending limit. Both stop the whole account at once.
I edited my ad set yesterday and today it barely spends. Why?
Significant edits restart learning. Delivery can be uneven for a few days. Leave it alone unless spend stays near zero for more than a day.
Can a running ad be rejected?
Yes. Meta re-reviews ads and can reject one that ran for weeks. The status changes to Rejected with the policy named.
Should I duplicate the campaign to get it going again?
Not before you know the cause. A duplicate inherits the same billing hold, limit or policy problem, and it starts learning from zero.
